, pennsylvania jersey back through virginia, west virginia. but as we look further west our next weather maker is beginning to develop. couple of storms flaring up through central missouri headed in through the southern part of illinois. that same storm system headed our way. we think it will bring some clouds tomorrow afternoon. best chance of rain tomorrow night into the overnight hours. that's actually good time. we don't think we'll get a lot of rain with this storm if we get the rain in the overnight hours it soaks into the ground a little better we could use it. in the meantime high pressure in control. >> that's going to keep dry weather dominating the forecast picture for 24 hours. few clouds build in early in the morning but most of the cloud cover holds out late in the day. rain knocking on our door to the west and then the scattered showers we hope will hold together as they come through the overnight thursday and clear out friday so the weekend with still looks absolutely picturesque and fantastic. out here in the tropics unbelievably active it is extremely rare to two major

powerful doppler radar on this image. the closest rain way out in west virginia and actually north where the ravens are going to be playing later tonight. it looks like there will be the chance of storms there in the new stadium at meadowlands. we'll be watching that closely. right now temperatures low 80s, even mid-70s for annapolis to cambridge. 88 in frederick. so it's a good bit hotter in the western part of the state. the rest of the evening, just partly cloudy and breezy and cool. actually, that should read the 70s. we'll be in the 70s this evening. we'll talk more about the ravens game day forecast tonight and also look ahead to the rest of the week. can this stuff last? coming up. >>> patches of oil believed to be from the bp leak have been found in the gulf of mexico sea floor. the university of georgia researchers found oil as much as 80 miles from the deepwater horizon well. some of the patches of oil are up to two inches thick. the scientists collected at least 10 samples from the sea floor about a mile down. testing is needed though to confirm it's bp oil but researchers say

here. virginia, west virginia stayed sunny all day. low so far north and east did not generate any rain forest and next chance or hope for some rain brewing out in the texas panhandle now into the lower midwest. you can see some unsettled weather here. the system's going to kind of sit and spin for a day before it begins to push east as we go into the day tomorrow and should arrive early sunday morning like in the overnight hours, and last not least the mid part of our day sunday. we certainly do need those showers. forecast model keeps us generally just partly cloudy tonight and tomorrow, but then check it out. sunday morning will bring in the rain. some of those showers could linger through the afternoon. that would actually end up being a good thing. tropical storm igor strength evening in the tropics as well. 52 tonight. clouds increase late in the day but sunshine early and tomorrow night we're dropping down to about 62 with clouds on the increase. the best chance for rain again is going to be sunday early in the morning through about the early part of the afternoon. kelly. >> than

pretty heavy rain bands across del mar virginia delaware, but things improving as the core of this storm is not just weakening but really whipping north 25 miles per hour. biggest concern later this evening is going to be for places like cape cod. again that track pulling it further and further away from ocean city. right now the storm about 179 miles offshore. we'll have much more on what's going on with the hurricane and also the 3 day weekend coming up. >>> the high tide from earl pushed ocean water right up to the boardwalk. the tides along with heavy winds can take a toll on ocean city beaches. >> reporter: kelly, it did affect the beach. there's about 300 emergency management workers down here trying to help out. they have 10 miles of beach in ocean city. the mayor's office has been getting ready for this. all of those people have been preparing for earl to hit ocean city. earl started off as a big heavy brute as a category 4 hurricane when he got here it was a wimp he category 2. many vacationers and residents ventured out to witness mother nature throwing out a little attit

from the upper 70s and low 80s earlier. except for over south of the virginia border where they are still seeing 80s there. humidity comfortably low. bone dry. that changes tomorrow. winds will continue to come from the south. that is gig to bring up that southerly breeze and more humid weather. clear skies over the entire mid-atlantic now. this is just as quiet as it gets with high pressure centered just about over new jersey right now. so that is just meaning nothing but clear weather here across the central part of the east coast. a little disturbance well north and west, we'll probably get a glancing blow but the front itself doesn't look like it will come through. high pressure holds another night tomorrow. as this moves further east we'll get more of a southerly wind. that is going to pump up the temperatures into the mid-80s. thursday and friday, flirting with 90. tonight and through the day tomorrow, clouds increase late in the day but i think the chance of showers is slim and whatever rain we see comes in tomorrow evening. then into the day on thursday we're talking about p
